Creative Outlet
Why is picking up another hobby the most appealing when I really don't have time to do so? I have a 3 month old baby girl and I'm working towards my Master's in Inclusive Education, and yet I keep feeling the pull to do something creative. Whether it's seeing adorable baby headbands and thinking "I can do that," feeling the pull to order way too many crafting supplies (hello Cricut), or following the NanoWrimo Twitter account I am constantly craving the opportunity to 'make' something.
Combine the cost of these, likely short-lived if I'm being honest with myself, habits; having less time to myself; and living in a smaller home and it just doesn't seem realistic to hop on any of those bandwagons. There's been so many interests that I haven't kept up with long term (including both a mirrorless camera and a ukulele that are now sitting beautifully on my bookshelf as display items) I don't feel like wasting money and the resources it takes to make the items on things that I am only passingly interested in. Is it really the needlepoint that I want or do I want people to see me as a person who has the time and creativity to needlepoint?

Maybe this will be a little outlet for when the urge strikes, and instead of clicking order on a cross-stitch pattern I can be productive in a more budget friendly way. Why not give it a try at least? And maybe writing about more concrete things will lead to me being able to do more creative writing, which I have always been interested in... We'll see!
